Ministry Center

The Ministry Center, or Centro ABEM (its Spanish name), is located on 162 acres of property on the northwest side of Managua.  It is being developed as a resource for ABWE missionaries involved in church planting and leadership training as a site for hosting camps, retreats, evangelistic outreaches, and pastoral and lay leader education.

Steve has had the opportunity to be a part of the Center almost since its inception as an idea from the heart and mind of Larry and Bev Smith, our ABWE colleagues.  Before we relocated to Nicaragua from Costa Rica, Steve and several others traveled with the Smiths to Nicaragua to look for a piece of property and to pray and dream about what God could do with a facility of this scope.  It has been quite a journey to see God bring this to pass, step by step, and for Steve to be able to contribute to its development through his education and experience as a civil engineer.

The following structures have been built:  a seminary building with 4 classrooms, 2 offices, and a library; two duplex-style cabins which sleep 32; 4 smaller cabins which sleep 12; a combined kitchen and dining hall which seats over 100; a reception building; a semi-Olympic swimming pool and bathhouse; and several soccer and baseball fields.  Most recently a multi-purpose building which will serve as an auditorium and a gynasium was constructed because of the need to host larger groups.

The development and maintenance of this Center is not possible without the financial contributions of ministry partners in North America.  If you would like to contribute financially, gifts may be sent to the Nicaragua Project (#0725303) at ABWE, PO Box 8585, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8585.
